Christina Mayers nature photographs were taken in the years 2005 - 2018. At different places, always looking for uncontrolled wild growth. The artist is fascinated by the beauty and the juxtaposition of dried plants and green sage, the structure of a flowering, trailing plant and sand or the delicate green of the buds that lie above nature like a film in spring. The view of nature is now also shaped by the digital age. The title IN THE WILD makes use of the metaphor that technology has borrowed from nature, suggesting that data is an uncontrollable force of nature. “In the Wild” is the term for malware that is uncontrollably present on the net. What is natural, what artificial? We can say with certainty that nature was there before the digital world and what once grew wild, was domesticated by human hands and is now being pushed back more and more. This book is therefore also a search for traces back to the origin and symbolizes her great respect for nature.
